The Mahikari They Don't Want You To Know

Today I just wanted to post a short note on my healing journey as I recover from the effects of mahikari. Thanks to some wonderful work but David A Sealands and a book called "Healing Damaged Emotions", I am working on forgiveness. Therefore I would like to post a personal note of forgiveness to the members of mahikari, and I would like them to know I am praying for their Salvation.

As my study of the Bible and journey in Christ continues, I continue to have insights on the forces in mahikari.

The "light" had been a source of of my consternation for sometime, and thanks to the discovery through reason that mahikari is antithetical to Christ, I have concluded that the force emitted must be antithetical to Christ as well. My first thought is that the warmth is actually hellfire. Sorry if that sounds too difficult or strange to wrap the mind around, but there are supernatural powers at work and I dont think it is the result of hypnosis. The hypnosis comes in the form of the amatsu prayer, which along with suggestions in regard to your eventual "sleepiness" during kenshu, set up the mind for hypnotic suggestion. The repetitious practice of amatsu and bowing in subserviance also contribute to the overall ceding of control to a negative force. Also, the suggestion that you must constantly monitor your "innermost thoughts" create a meta cognitive environment of constant doubt, which can result in anxiety, Obsessesive Compulsive Disorder, wishful thinking, omen watching, and a release of normal cognitive control to make sound decisions.

Greetings to all in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior. I am overjoyed to announce that yesterday I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior and have become Born Again in Christ.

Mahikari , by subjugating Christ to a lesser role, Mahikari is by reason part of Anti- Christ. Members, by teachings are taught they can become like Christ, therefore he is considered an equal rather than the True Savior of mankind. Christ taught "follow me". He did not teach "Be my Equal" "The only way to the Father is thru Me" THE ONLY WAY. More to Come later.

My apologies for being away, but I have been going through some new experiences and trials for the past few weeks. Amazingly though, in the midst of what seems like chaos, I have come to realize that trust in you inner voice should guide you...and acting in doubt will only create more fear, chaos, and suffering.

After reading Lara' s blog http://tangledsukyomahikari.blogspot.com/ and a rather rough day at work, I decided the time was right to finally dispose of the omitama. I had been keeping in the house, and I have been still experiencing some of the phenomenon associated with it...in fact, it was the only remnant of Mahikari still around, other than the now less frequent thought patterns that have lingered.

I could not think of any method fitting enough to really go for the catharsis, but thinking back on how the organization robbed me of several years of my life, not to mention it's misguidance away from the teachings of Christ, I promptly took a hammer to the omitama and flattened it for easy mailing. (I was going to open it, but it was so cheaply made that the mechanism did not operate properly....and frankly, there is nothing inside I care about)

I decided that the flattened omitama should be accompanied by a note explaining its return, in hopes that it will positively affect the chain of people who come into contact with it, so that perhaps some of the other kind people I met at the dojo will awaken to the false origins and dangerous practices of this occultic group.

Interestingly enough, I decided to google "mahikari blogs" today as a quick way to access some of the other former member's blogs, and much to my delight, a confirmation was sent from above. Having submitted my blog to some search engines many weeks ago, I was amazed to find that my own blog suddenly appeared in the top spot! What felt like several pounds was lifted from my shoulders, and I am finding that my TRUE faith is coming back. Again, I encourage any current members who are in doubt to read the experience blogs, investigate the truth at Mahikari exposed, or contact us for more answers. You are not alone.

The Comforter

One of the arguments that Sukyo Mahikari uses to argue the divine nature of Okada is a Biblical passage that references "The Comforter". The argument is that Jesus proclaimed he would send someone after his crucifixion , a "spirit of truth", and that Okada was this spirit of truth. Similar arguments have been made in an effort to support the teachings of Islam and other "prophets".

Needless to say, it would be a farce to consider Okada the "spirit of TRUTH" when he couldn't tell the truth about the origins of most of his "revelations", which were actually lifted from SKK and a host of suspect "historical documents". But just to drive home the point that Mahikari's argument is not supported, nor is it compatible with Christianity, take a look at this, and just substitute "Okada" for "Muhammad":

REVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT TEXTS

First, let the New Testament texts speak for themselves. They clearly state that the Comforter is the Holy Spirit. There is no ambiguity about this. Consequently Muhammad is not the Comforter based upon what the Bible explicitly states.

Second let us take the context of the texts into account. If you are going to understand any passage of Scripture you must understand its context. When Jesus spoke these words in John it was His last ministerial time with His disciples prior to His death, crucifixion, and resurrection. Jesus is being very intimate with them. Understand then, when he speaks to them He is including them – these very disciples, specifically. These are the men He knew best and loved; they were His friends. These were His final words to them, and He wanted them to know what was in store.

Therefore, knowing that these passages of John are being spoken intimately between Jesus and His disciples there are several key points we can discover concerning the Comforter and His relationship with Jesus’ disciples.

John 14:16 — And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth.
The Comforter will be with these disciples forever. Jesus promised the Comforter would be with these disciples forever. Muhammad could not be the Comforter because he wasn't born until over 500 years later - following the deaths of these disciples. He was born around 570 and died around 632 AD.

John 14:17 — But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you.
The Comforter lives with the disciples already now and will later be 'in' them. The Holy Spirit came to the disciples and indwelt them. Muhammad could not be the Comforter because first he wasn't around at the time when Jesus was speaking to his disciples nor second could he ever be in any of the disciples. The Greek word is 'en', and it means 'right inside'. Jesus is saying that the Comforter will be 'right inside' of the disciples.

John 14:26 — The Comforter is specifically described as the Holy Spirit. The Comforter is not a man. Muhammad could not be the Comforter because he was never the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26 — The Comforter will be sent in Jesus' name. The Holy Spirit represented the Lord on earth. No Muslim believes that Muhammad was sent by God in Jesus name. Muhammad did not come in Jesus' name, as the apostle of Jesus, rather he came in his own name with his own questionable “revelations”.

John 14:26 — But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
The Comforter will teach these disciples and remind them of what Christ said to them. As the early Christians grew the Holy Spirit taught them. Muhammad is not the Comforter because he never knew the disciples and he didn't teach these disciples, and Muhammad never reminded the disciples of what Christ said.

John 15:26 — When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.
The Comforter would be sent to these disciples. These disciples received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Muhammad was never sent to these disciples.

John 16:13 — But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.
The Comforter will guide these disciples into all truth. These disciples (and others) grew in the knowledge of God through the revelations from the Holy Spirit. Muhammad never guided these disciples into any truth.

John 16:13 — He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
The Comforter will speak to these disciples. These disciples grew to know the leading of the Holy Spirit, i.e. they knew His voice. Muhammad never spoke to these disciples.

John 16:14 — He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
The Comforter will take from Jesus and make it known to the disciples. Muhammad never knew Jesus and never took from Jesus and made it known to anyone.

The context of these passages shows clearly that Muhammad could not be the Comforter. Jesus was not speaking of another person to come at a later date. Jesus’ precious final words to His disciples were meant for them. Jesus was not merely preaching a sermon to be analyzed and intellectually talked about through the centuries, rather, He was giving His the disciples with Him there His final commands, love, and encouragement.

Here's a question for you to consider: In Islamic theology, Muhammad rendered Jesus’ message fulfilled or ended because Muhammad brought God’s latest message to the people. Muhammad expected that true believers in God would accept Islam. Therefore, if Jesus was foretelling Muhammad, wouldn’t Jesus be prophesying that his ministry will be rendered void by the Paraclete? Read the context of the passages and decide.

Further, to fulfill exactly what Jesus foretold concerning the Comforter and His relationship with the disciples, the New Testament records the fulfillment of the coming of the Holy Spirit and the disciples receiving Him. The disciples received the Comforter - the Holy Spirit, on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:3, 4. The Comforter was now “in” the disciples and He remained “in” them from then on and taught them — just as Jesus had said He would.

Today I am going to post some information for those of you who may be thinking about leaving Mahikari, or those who have left.

I am posting this list because I am positive there are members who are feeling these things even though the have not left yet. Frankly, I have experienced most of this list at one time or another. I really wanted to post some other things here regarding Mahikari and Christianity, Mahikari and Medical neglect, and any number of the thoughts that have popped in my head by the grace of GOD, but there is just so much, and frankly I have been spending too much of my time re-living the experiences and hell as I write. There are better ways to serve God and live life. I do know though that it has helped greatly as well, for as the fog lifts, the Truth is revealed...and I owe much to the former members who bravely stepped before me...

you will note the references to "fear of evil spirits" and "excessive rigidity about rules of minor importance" For all of you dojo obsessed, hand washing, and sonen examining members, here is your wake up call as to why you are miserable... and the doctor here isn't even talking specifically about mahikari! So if you think you are right and all the others are wrong, lose your denial and realize if it makes you feel this way, there must be a reason, and it is not your nervous dead uncle.... if it quacks like a cult...then duck!

Post-Cult After Effects

After exiting a cult, an individual may experience a period of intense and often conflicting emotions. She or he may feel relief to be out of the group, but also may feel grief over the loss of positive elements in the cult, such as friendships, a sense of belonging or the feeling of personal worth generated by the group's stated ideals or mission. The emotional upheaval of the period is often characterized by "post-cult trauma syndrome":
spontaneous crying
sense of loss
depression & suicidal thoughts
fear that not obeying the cult's wishes will result in God's wrath or loss of salvation
alienation from family, friends
sense of isolation, loneliness due to being surrounded by people who have no basis for understanding cult life
fear of evil spirits taking over one's life outside the cult
scrupulosity, excessive rigidity about rules of minor importance
panic disproportionate to one's circumstances
fear of going insane
confusion about right and wrong
sexual conflicts
unwarranted guilt
The period of exiting from a cult is usually a traumatic experience and, like any great change in a person's life, involves passing through stages of accommodation to the change:
Disbelief/denial: "This can't be happening. It couldn't have been that bad."
Anger/hostility: "How could they/I be so wrong?" (hate feelings)
Self-pity/depression: "Why me? I can't do this."
Fear/bargaining: "I don't know if I can live without my group. Maybe I can still associate with it on a limited basis, if I do what they want."
Reassessment: "Maybe I was wrong about the group's being so wonderful."
Accommodation/acceptance: "I can move beyond this experience and choose new directions for my life" or...
Reinvolvement: "I think I will rejoin the group."
Passing through these stages is seldom a smooth progression. It is fairly typical to bounce back and forth between different stages. Not everyone achieves the stage of accommodation / acceptance. Some return to cult life. But for those who do not, the following may be experienced for a period of several months:
flashbacks to cult life
simplistic black-white thinking
sense of unreality
suggestibility, ie. automatic obedience responses to trigger-terms of the cult's loaded language or to innocent suggestions
disassociation (spacing out)
feeling "out of it"
"Stockholm Syndrome": knee-jerk impulses to defend the cult when it is criticized, even if the cult hurt the person
difficulty concentrating
incapacity to make decisions
hostility reactions, either toward anyone who criticizes the cult or toward the cult itself
mental confusion
low self-esteem
dread of running into a current cult-member by mistake
loss of a sense of how to carry out simple tasks
dread of being cursed or condemned by the cult
hang-overs of habitual cult behaviors like chanting
difficulty managing time
trouble holding down a job
Most of these symptoms subside as the victim mainstreams into everyday routines of normal life. In a small number of cases, the symptoms continue.

Sad Reminders

This weekend was Memorial Day weekend in the United States, a tribute to the fallen soldiers who served our country. To me, more than anything it is a reminder of how pathological human beings take power and exploit the masses into fighting money making wars based on ignorant ideologies.

It also reminded me that SM'S ideology has possibly contributed to the deaths of people who have refused or been denied medical treatment, and of the people connected to the organization that were not protected while wearing Omitama. I know of one member at my former center who died of cancer despite having Omitama, and from Lara's account at least one child who has passed away. In addition, there are stories in Winston Davis' book dojo of members passing, not to mention the youths in Australia who died in the horrible accident that awakened Garry Greenwood. I haven't had the time to go back and count, but I have been thinking of compiling a list in order to better honor these people at some point. I would really appreciate some input here from all of you.

Furthermore, I hope this post will draw out some more former members and give them the courage to speak up, even if done so anonymously. I am certain there are people who have important stories to relate that will continue to bring out the truth. I hope you will help in honoring those people who were supposedly more connected to God by virtue of SM.

A great deal has been bothering me lately about my past experience with Mahikari, especially now having read all of the fine ex-members blogs and realizing the similarities of experience regarding the codified structure, the complex and subtle control of emotions, and the feelings of having been deceived from the very beginning. I will probably try to address this more in the future, but today I want to go back to a past topic because it weighs on my mind heavily, and I believe it is a fundamental eureka! moment for anyone currently involved or thinking about becoming a member. I believe it is so telling that I hope someone will cache the SM North America website, because I have reason to believe that SM will pull it down once I reveal it...

On the website, which I have linked to before, you will find a standard disclaimer on the bottom of the page "art of True light"...here is the link:

Notice at the bottom that SM welcomes "everyone" to receive light, but children and minors require permission from a parent. I passed over this before but having seen it again, the effect was chilling and telling.

Why would a religion require such a statement if it wasn't in some way dangerous or perceived as such? Many people consider other religious factions to have cult like overtones, including certain sects of the world's major religions. But have you ever seen a church or religion require parental permission to participate??? I don't believe I have ever come across this before, and it is astounding to see. The organization has gone to great lengths to protect itself, and to deny any accusations of cult-like behavior. If I were an outsider, I would have to wonder why.

We don't really ask much of parents these days regarding permission, except for the occasional school field trip. Most of the things we try to protect them from are harmful, or it is done out of concern for their behavior outside direct parental contact. It just seems to me that if SM were really powered by the Almighty GOD it claims to be, this sort of thing wouldn't be required.

As antiseptic as Sukyo Mahikari's website is, here you will notice a total lack of information regarding the many topics of controversy, including the hidden truth of Okada, the succession issues, mentions of the Baptism of Fire, or the issue of conjuring attaching spirits. In the FAQ section, the only disclaimer posted is a denial of "brainwashing", as if it exists in some secret manual at the headquarters, and a denial of affliation with Sukyo Mahikari.

The home page includes a decidedly innocent looking animation of two Japanese "angel children" that look more like flying insects than divine beings. I wonder if they have any raging ancestors attached to them?

One of the most telling posts on the site itself is located in the section under "our organization-basic seminar" Here they have an outline which includes the topic "Definition of Happiness"!!!!
SO..they are going to tell YOU what your happiness is!

There is also a section where they claim to provide "proof" of the healings. There are pictured what look like before and after photos and x-rays of several conditions. Unfortunately no description of the "scientific methods" they used to verify that it was really okiyome that produced the results.

Wonderbread!

One of the more interesting aspects of organizational behavior is the public response to negative publicity. In fact, most of the world these days loves to play the "public relations game", be it world governments, cheating corporations, or fallen sports heroes. The trick is to sound pious or humble, ignore or gloss over the known information, and make it sound that critics have it all wrong...

I mention this because I was interested in the response of SM, and in particular their North American website. There are so many examples of the above strategy and that I hardly know where to begin. First, take a look at this page, where a woman is receiving okiyome :

It all looks so peaceful and harmless! No discussion of the possible manifestation of spirits for these plain old blue and pink suburban "practioners" I don't think Dick and Jane America have any idea that a Samurai might start throwing Jane's body to the ground any second!

Below that, check out the picture of the super modern "young people" in the post modern poses. Hands crossed, looking confidant, like an international new wave band ready to take on the world...I wonder if they know about the swastikas as part of the "universal values", or that there is another mahikari down the street that also claims to be the real deal????

Interesting also is the fact that the text is now officially copyrighted...you cannot cut and paste to use as an example or a copyright pop-up appears. They are getting media savvy! Considering all of the information that has been out and the huge questions members had years ago, they have finally carefully crafted a website that only briefly addresses the question of succession and the two mahikaris. Nothing about the origin challenges, though they do address the "cult" accusations by telling people they are free to quit ( of course no mention of the guilt they used in past)

Beam me up!

I have been trying to find more information on the "Takenouchi Documents", those supposedly ancient writings that had been hidden away and "reveal" the so-called true history of the world. You would think such important information would have been studied by scholars worldwide, but the few mentions I have seen have all been UFO related. Here is a paragraph from a website I visited recently:

The Takenouchi documents and artifacts, ancient treasure of the Japanese Emperor guarded for 2500 years by the family of the highest Shinto priest caste family, speak of an alien civilization coming here from space and founding the human race.

Is there anyone out there that actually has better info on these documents? Is this where Okada got the idea that "ancients" travelled in space? I would be grateful to hear more about this subject and I am curious as to if and how they are viewed by the Japanese, and if they are discussed on the Japanese discussion boards. I am also curious as to whether Johrei mentions the Takenouchi Documents, or was this Okada's contribution to their original teachings?

What Mahikari does not tell you about "Attaching Spirits"

One of the most bothersome aspects of Mahikari is the information they don't give you before joining. A review of Dr. Tebecis' website http://www.sunrisepress.com.au/pages/04spiritualRealm.html will give you an example. Below is copied an entry from the section called "Spiritual Realm".

From this chapter and some that follow it, it is clear that spirits attached to people influence the people in various ways, their personalities, moods, habits and diseases, to name a few. It seems that most problems are due to spirits. Fortunately, spirits can be helped by the Light of God and the practice of certain teachings. These matters clearly apply to all people, whether they are interested in spiritual phenomena or not.

All sounds rather harmless and easy to deal with on the surface, doesn't it?

What the Doctor fails to tell you is that you could possibly be entering into a realm that is beyond your wildest imagination, or desire. I will not debate the existence of the spiritual realm or of "attaching spirits" here, but I will point out again the disingenuous nature of the sect and the information it withholds from potential members.

Tales of "spirit manifestation" are more common in most Mahikari dojos than ghost stories at a Boy Scout jamboree. Many have been well documented in Winston Davis' book Dojo. As a former member I was privy to many of these as well. The concept is rather simple. "Spirits" attach to our own spiritual body and possess us. It almost sounds cozy, like having some friends along for the ride!

WHAT YOU ARE NOT TOLD is that these spirits could be disgruntled warriors, foxes, evil demi-gods, angry ancestors, snakes, and any other unsavory form of spiritual being. The information you are given regarding "manifestation" of these spirits is that it will usually result is some minor hand movement or perhaps some head bobbing or weeping. Given that most people joining have never experienced such phenomena (nor probably wish to), the information presented here is negligent.

You are also told that Omitama will protect you from attaching spirits, and will prevent them from attaching to you in the future. However, there are many tales in Davis' book about kumite who are possessed by spirits one after another, including a women who was possessed by 200 foxes! Apparently there can also be a continual parade of ancestors who wish to intervene or interfere in the most daily and meaningless of events! Believe me, if you were happy with your "normal" non-manifesting life, you can certainly look forward to a lot of surprises, speculation, and nuisance according to these tales! Or perhaps something even worse!

Sorry to divert, but I decided to do a little more on the Raelians, just to point out similarities between these type of cultic "religions". The "creator" here is a bit different, but the message is the same...end of days, blah, blah blah, all religions came for a reason, blah, blah,blah. They even get the Japanese in on the act! The role of the prophets was to progressively educate humanity through the Messages they taught, each adapted to the culture and level of understanding at the time. They were also to leave traces of the Elohim so that we would be able to recognize them as our Creators and fellow human beings when we had advanced enough scientifically to understand them. Jesus, whose father was an Eloha, was given the task of spreading these messages throughout the world in preparation for this crucial time in which we are now privileged to live: the predicted Age Of Revelation.

Tebecis continues the whitewash...

Here, from Dr. Tebecis' webpage for the SM book he wrote....

This chapter gives a brief history of the founder – his birth into a family of samurai background, his education in the Military Academy, his experience in business, how the Mahikari organisation began with a revelation from God to him in 1959, and the various impressions people gained about him.

Nothing about his former involvement with SKK and the accusations ofOkada conjuring spirits. They now have to release the claim that all the "revelations" were original.

Just a quick post to thank all the ex-members of SM who have helped so much recently. I appreciate the encouragement and support, and thanks for the links on your pages. I don't get around to this enough, but I hope soon to get everyone added on my links section. What Is The Origin of The Six-Pointed Star?

The Six-Pointed Star: The origin, and history of the six-pointed star (hexagram) and its mysterious link with mankind from the days of Egypt are intriguing. The six-pointed star has long been used in magic, occultism, witchcraft, and astrology, and has been found at the scene of so many occult crimes that the police in California issued a directive to all schools warning children to be cautious of this symbol. Why do most Jews use the six-pointed star, which they call the Star of David, the Shield of David, or the Magen David?

Hirsch Goldberg in his book The Jewish Connection states: " The Star of David is not of Jewish origin - and the ancient Israelites never used it as their religious symbol" (they used the Menorah or Seven Candlestick). So, why did the six-pointed star become known as the Jewish star? This symbol was widely adopted, not because the Jewish people chose it, but ironically because Adolph Hitler forced all Jews to wear a yellow six-pointed star during the holocaust. The word holocaust means burnt offering, and the six-pointed star was used in the past when burnt human sacrifices were offered to Moloch and Ashtoreth in Baal worship. The few Jews who had anything to do with the Six-Pointed star (hexagram) were those who were involved in occult practices. Back to Hitler, would he put anything good on a Jew? Hitler meant to insult and destroy the Jews, and being wrapped up in the occult (read the book, The Nazis and the Occult ), he may have meant the Jews to be his burnt offering for power. Today, most Jews wear this star by choice, and without thinking or checking out its origin and usage through time. Wearing the six-pointed star became a fashion.
The first mention of the six-pointed star in Israelite literature was in Amos 5:6, when YAWEH angrily tells His people that " I hate and despise your feast days…. You shall take up Siccuth, your king and Chiun your images, the star of your God…." Siccuth (Sakkuth) and Chiun (Kaiwan) means "star" and refers to Saturn as a star, and was objects of idolatrous worship, as they were considered to be Assyrian gods. The mixed multitude that went out of Egypt with the children of Israel took the star with them. Like the obelisk, the six-pointed star was an Egyptian idol used in idolatrous worship. In 922 B.C. when Solomon married the daughter of Pharoah, he became involved in Egyptian idol worship and went into magic, and witchcraft. Solomon built an altar to Ashtoreth and Moloch, and the six-pointed star, the chief symbol of human sacrifices in magic and witchcraft circles, came to be called the Seal of Solomon.
Solomon did not heed the subsequent warnings from God to cease from these abominable practices, even after God threatened to rend the Kingdom of Israel from his son's hand. And indeed, the split occurred after Solomon's death. Solomon's idolatry caused the Kingdom of Israel to be split in two. The practices he introduced to the children of Israel eventually caused the House of Israel to go into exile into the Caucasus, and the House of Judah to go into captivity. It was Josiah who later destroyed this forbidden altar. Did you know that the number 666 was connected to Solomon? (1 Kings 10:14) Yes, 666 talents of gold was sent to Solomon each month by none other than the King of Tyrus. After you have read this account in the book of 1 Kings, turn to Ezekiel Chapter 28. Oh, what a tangled web was weaved, when Solomon practised to deceive. King Solomon left many articles which proved his blatant idolatry, such as King Solomon's Mirror, King Solomon's Comb, and the six-pointed star, which became known as the Seal of Solomon in the witchcraft and occult world. Solomon also laid down the foundations of the Craft (Daniel 8:25) which later became known as Freemasonry., and the six-pointed star features prominently in Masonic rituals.
King David was Solomon's father, but he was never an idolater. He made it absolutely clear that God Himself was his shield, not only in Psalm 3:3 but in Psalm 28:7, Psalm 119:114, and Psalm 144:2.
The book, The Six-Pointed Star, is the first and only academic work which documents the origin and historical usage of this symbol. From Egypt to Solomon, to Arab magic, and witchcraft, to Druid uses, to freemasonry, to Mayer Amschel Bauer, who in the 17th century changes his name to depict the red six-pointed star which hung on his door in Germany, and thus began the family of "Rothschild" (meaning red shield). I've been doing a lot of research lately on the "Star of David" and it seems the origins are somewhat muddy. It is not mentioned in early rabbinical literature, and it is definitely connected to occultic practice in the present. One fascinating tidbit that came up was this information on Raelism. I was struck by the similarity of everything to Mahikari, including an attempt to set up an "embassy" in Israel. I wonder if Okada was waiting for space ships too....;)

Raelism uses a symbol similar to the Star of David. The symbol initially chosen by Claude Vorilhon for his movement was the source of considerable controversy: it resembled a Star of David with the image of a swastika embedded in its center. According to official Raelian statements, the swastika "represents infinity of time, and trace its origins to Sanskrit and Buddhist symbols, to the Chinese character for temple, and to ancient catacombs, mosques, and synagogues."
In 1991, the symbol was changed to remove the swastika and deflect public criticism, as well as to gain acceptance in Israel for the building of a Raelian "embassy" to greet anticipated "Elohim space vessels."
